Quicksilver
If you're looking for a hero with a simple tool kit then you can't really go wrong with Quicksilver. He is simpler to build up than other upgrade reliant heroes, such as Black Panther or Iron Man, but his ability to self ready, coupled with his balanced build, makes him a great all-rounder, ready to react to any situation, just don't throw him in front of a hail of bullets and you'll be fine!
Through his Super Speed ability and Always Be Running event, Quicksilver is often ready, able to use his basic attack, defense, and thwart powers repeatedly. Accelerated Reflex, Hyper Perception, and Reinforced Sinew enhance these base powers, greatly increasing Quicksilver’s effectiveness. And when things starts to slow down, change to Quicksilver’s alter-ego form, Pietro Maximoff, to team-up with his sister, Wanda Maximoff.
With the Protection aspect, use Nerves of Steel to Never Back Down against even the strongest attack, or Side Step an enemy to damage it. When the going gets tough, call upon the enigmatic Warlock to aid in the defense, or the self-replicating Multiple Man to overwhelm the villain.
