I've talked about Marvel United on this blog enough for you all to know I like the game. I own all the content for it and have painted more than half of that. So I decided that we should celebrate everything I like about Marvel United by playing all of it, so I started the The Megaverse campaign!
Marvel United is a simple boss battler where players take on the roles of Marvel Heroes fighting a supervillain. The primary hook is how your turn affects the next player, with you paying forward any actions you took to them. Each Hero has a different mix of actions and special abilities and each villain plays differently than any that came before it, with some even altering the very basic structure of the game itself.
So what does the Megaverse campaign do? Players are dropped onto a large world map, like you might find in games like Super Smash Brothers. You can follow any line on the map, if it touches a hero you unlock that hero, if it touches a villain you can fight that villain. If it touches a gate you need a matching resource to proceed in that direction.

If you win a game against a villain you unlock new resources and new paths, maybe you unlock Equipment or Team Decks or even a pet companion too. The Heroes you won with enter cooldown mode, forcing you try out new heroes or different team combos. And as you play through the entire map, you slowly unlock all the content available for the game and play against every villain.
It's a massive undertaking but one we're having a lot of fun with. It's also helping me keep going with painting as we unlock new heroes and villains they get added to the painting queue.

So, if you own everything for Marvel United I can't highly recommend enough checking it out and playing through the Megaverse!
